About
Our first acquisition meeting lasted four hours and ended with three editors arguing, not about whether a manuscript was good, but about whether we were the right house for it. That argument is the whole reason Family Publishing House exists.
Most of the manuscripts that cross a desk are good. Good isn't the bar. The bar is whether a book belongs on a list where the person championing it will still be able to tell you, ten years later, exactly which sentence made them buy it. We built this house so that answer would always be yes.
We're online-exclusive by design, not by necessity — no warehouse of returns, no shelf space negotiated away from us by a chain, no book competing for a reader's attention against six hundred others on the same table. Every title gets its own page, its own champion, and a direct line to the reader who was always going to love it.
And because a few of our editors came up on the scouting side of the business, we ask a second question that most presses don't: could this also be watched? Not every book earns that question. The ones that do get a badge on their page and, eventually, their own line here.
Family Publishing House licenses foreign and translation rights on a title-by-title basis. We do not accept unsolicited rights inquiries through a public form — write to our rights contact directly with the territory and format you're interested in.
